- This and _X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)_ (qv) are the first movies being produced by 'Hugh Jackman' (qv) and 'John Palermo (I)' (qv)'s new production company, Seed Productions.

- 'Zack Snyder' (qv) and 'Bryan Singer' (qv) turned down the chance to direct the film. Snyder was too busy developing _Watchmen (2009)_ (qv), while Singer was too busy with other projects.
