- Filmed under the title "Norrin Radd", the name of the man who becomes the Silver Surfer.- In March 2005, an unnamed "Zen Buddhist with experience in VFX" was set to direct. However, the unnamed director found it too technically challenging, and was already committed to another film anyway, so he left.
- In 1992, 'Quentin Tarantino' (qv) approached Constantin Films with a script and offered to direct the film, but was turned down.
- 'Bernd Eichinger' (qv), the head of Constantin Films, was originally going to produce the film.
- Scriptwriters 'Rudy Gaines (I)' (qv) and 'John Rice (IV)' (qv) wrote a script showcasing the adventures of the Silver Surfer: he crash-lands on Earth, finds romance with a Brooklyn waitress, is de-powered into a human being by a secret government project, and is pursued by an unhinged US Army General. 20th Century Fox liked the script and 'Geoffrey Wright (I)' (qv) was cast, but it was found to be too expensive to film.
