Quotes of Mannerheim
Quote not foundTrivia of Mannerheim
- If the promised German money come true, the film may become the most expensive Finnish-German film production ever.- Has been in the headlines since 2001 when it was announced that film is being written. Later 'Renny Harlin' (qv) joined as director, which marks only the second time that the Finn will be directing film in Finland.
- The film was originally supposed to be completely in English and to have an international cast.
- In early 2001 the filmmakers wanted a budget of 60 million euros, but failed to get any funding. Nine years later, in 2009 some new producers were approached, but the budget discussed was only 10 million euros, not enough for big star participation, thus making initial 2001 plans unrealistic.
- The production of this film was supposed to start in 2001, but because of funding troubles, it was dragging for nine years until some German and Hungarian sources were asked to re-start the project.
- The film is based on the life of 'Gustaf Mannerheim' (qv) (1867-1951), Commander-in-Chief of Finland's Defence Forces, Marshal of Finland, 6th President of Finland (1944-1946) and Regent of Finland (1918-1919). In 2004 he was voted as the Greatest Finn by Full Trivia >>
