Dawn Higginbotham was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Gragg and Susan Higginbotham and was raised with her three brothers, Gragg Jr., Nathan, and Michael in Bartlett, Tennessee, a small suburb just outside of Memphis. Inspired by her parents, her love of music and film started at a young age. As a musical theater performer Dawn played Maria in "Westside Story," several characters in the collective "A... My Name Is Alice," and Hope Harcourt in "Anything Goes" for the Bolton Stagelight Theatre. She also directed the plays "Harvey," "Run, Robber, Run," and "Crimes of the Heart." Attended and graduated from the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City and acted in several plays Off-Broadway and in a national tour of "A Christmas Carol." As a poet her work was published under the name Dawn Marie Higginbotham, by the International Library of Poetry. After several years in theater Dawn moved into the film realm. She worked on several feature films including Die Hard W/ A Vengeance, The Thin Red Line, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, Armageddon, Godzilla, and Jim Cameron's Titanic. And for several years for Lucasfilm on Episode I, II, and III. In 2003 Dawn and actress/producer/writer Helena Beaven created dHb Productions and produced "Extra, Extra," a short film about life as a background actor, an "Extra," starring Ted Raimi. The two, along with Renee' O'Connor, produced the feature film "Diamonds & Guns," written by Dawn and starring Renee' O'Connor and Ted Raimi. They also produced the short film "Merry Gentlemen," also written and directed by Dawn, about a father determined to build a doll house for his daughter on Christmas Eve, starring Chris Dollard, Jed Sura, and Ray O'Connor. Dawn HIgginbotham and Brooke P. Anderson soon after formed Cordova Pictures and their first feature film "Off The Ledge," written by Dawn, Brooke Anderson, and Andrew Pinon was just recently picked up for distribution. The film is due out in late 2009. Cordova Pictures is in development on several projects.
